Well Hello There and G'day to all of you
I've been real lazy with writing lately so tonight I'm feeling lazy *due to late night festivities* therefore have decided to park my ass in the living room to type, and watch cheesy movies on TV. (Yes that was a very bad run on sentence. I apologize to my old English teachers)
Anyways lets see.....here we go......
Work: So Yes I cheer!!! I am a working girl now, and I throw my arms up in the air and shout HURRAY!!! I try not to be a workaholic crazy Canadian, however it is in my blood and I don't think there really is too much I can do about that. Not working since October (before Halloween), has left my idle hands very itchy to work and I have been waiting in anticipation. Many good things come from working. Meeting awesome Aussies is one. Back Packers are great and all, but it's the Aussies that make this country so outstanding, interesting, and darling. Anyways I started @ Starbucks this week. I did two coffee school classes *I was quiet and didn't want to be the girl who knew everything, but the teacher took quite a liking to me*....Then yesterday was my first Barista shift. I really missed my sweet barista job. The managers absolutely adore me, it's quite darling. There is a little drama that people all feel the need *especially management* to confide in me. Hmmm!!! this could work to my disadvantage, but I have the mentality of being nice to everyone and doing my job. Because of this everyone has been welcoming and sweet.
One girl seems a little like she could use some fibre in her diet *uptight and all*...but it's pretty busy there so I can just imagine she is not there. She is not rude though and that's what counts. Maybe I'll sneak some flax in her latte when she's not looking. I also did some work with Peter Pans which is a Travel Agency in Oz. The staff are pretty nice and quite humorous. They were really impressed on my North American work ethic, and asked if they could keep me? hmmm I will work there as long as I can, until I feel like puking. Time goes slowly, but that will be less money out of my pocket when travel time comes so I will keep that in mind.
Leisure: It's been a fun week. I hung out with the ladies quite a lot and it's been good times. Our company decided to renovate our kitchen and add another room so in compensation they treated us like princesses on Mon/Tues. We went for dinner at this real darling Thai restaurant, I had sea food soup, and was very excited to get some squid *drool* The main event was Tuesday we went to this really awesome Dinner/movie Indian Vegetarian restaurant. The food was wicked, and when you are done you get to watch a movie in this very quaint and darling theatre. Instead of chairs you get to lie on futons with lots of pillows, which was very comfy. Quite the novelty, I would definitely go back there, if anyone from Sydney is reading this the place is called Govindas and it's on Darlinghurst road outside of Kings Cross. Good times!!!
Life in General: I haven't been attacked by crazy birds lately which makes me happy. I found out they are called Magpies and go crazy during nesting season. I was told by my friend Peter that people have gotten stitches from them before, SHITE....I still Jay-walk to avoid that stupid tree. Speaking of J-walking I was so worried about getting smoked by a car when I first got here. I would stand at an intersection with all the other travellers waiting for the little walking man that makes us all feel a sense of comfort. Being in Sydney a little while now, I'm now blending in with the locals a little. *Don't worry Mom and Dad I still look both ways (I just have to look right first instead of left)*.
I suppose those are most of the main things that have happened this week without boring you with the small details. However small details I find are usually the most interesting. When writing after being lazy for a week, this can be difficult though.
I anticipate going to a Christmas Party with an Aussie friend that I made about a month ago. That should be fun.....Free booze too..hehe....And BBQing on the Beach with my roomies and other Aussie friend on Sunday...I can't wait. A little secret of mine is that I have never BBQed before, I say this and hang my head in shame at the same time. I will learn though, I'm just too preoccupied with my magical salads/oatmeal/omelettes/soups etc. It's sickening actually. One thing I really enjoy making lately is Squash. People don't call it Squash here though, they call it pumpkin which threw me off @ first. A lot of things are the same but just called different things and vise versa. Today I asked @ work if they would like me to stock the "POP" fridge. Thier faces lit up that I had noticed it, but they were like POP what the shit are you talking about Canada girl. The one girl was like "Where are you from again?" It was quite comical. That has happened twice actually.
Anyways I like our new kitchen it's pretty sleek, tomorrow I'm heading to China town and making some awesome casserole, I think I will just be in that mood. Anyways that is way too much blabbering on my behalf. I shall post some pictures above for your amusement.
