As I mentioned before these gay ass computers don't have USB

so I just stole these off the net....This is what a bananna bunch looks like when it still has the pretty flower on it....it's actually quite neat to learn about bananas...and the second is the giant gum boot...they got 7.9 meters of rain...people literally swam down the road and took thier row boats...crazy stuff....anyways bybye
Fucking Bananas

Okay I'm going to see how much I can type in the next 28 minutes and 53 seconds.....Internet is like gold where I am right now and I probably wont use the net for a while...so first off I'm alive sorry Mom and Dad and anyone who may have thought I died..

Allow me to give a brief update up until now

  1. I worked at Beaches and really hated it on my third day I took off like a bandit and drove up the coast to the wettest part of Australia where it rains pretty much all the time right now...This land of water is called Tully...There is a giant gum boot when you enter the town that is 7.9 meters high to signify the crazy/worst floods they have had.....
  2. Will/Travis and myself got a job at a banana farm and it's the funniest/worst thing ever.....Travis is taking bags off of bananas and hanging them up while rats/bats/snakes/spiders attack him (especially in the morning)....Will is stacking boxes on a skit alllll day and putting the lids on them....
  3. I am a banana inspector and stand by a water belt and throw bad bananas into a conveyor belt that goes into a truck...I have so much banana shit on my hands that I don't know will ever come off....and kill a ton of spiders ever day....sometimes frogs and bats come through too...when ur in the fields there is Heaps of crazy snakes and bla blah...
  4. The highlight of the week at work was that I learned how to drive a tractor and it was the best ever.....I stalled it twice but once I got the hang of it it was heaps sweet ass.....
  5. The hostel that we're in is called Banana barricks and when I was taking a nap the owner came in and asked for me...I woke up real wonky and he offered me a job as a barmaid at the pub....so I get free accom....good times...I like

Okay now that the main points are out of the way I can gibber gabber about smaller things.....It's funny how easy I can change my mind with where I will be going and when....Last night my travel brothers and I were SET on getting the fuck out of this town and never coming back. We felt the banana rage and were slowly slipping into states the crazies. A few things have kinda made me change my mind to stay another week though...

The first is the people @ the hostel are really amazingly cool....I actually look forward to seeing them when I get off work. We made friends with a bunch of Japanese people who don't really speak a lot of english but have a love for UNO and hair cuts. We met some really rad Canadian dudes that may travel down the coast with us perhaps.....bla bla I suppose it doesn't really matter....but heaps of nice people....The other was when I looked in my bank account and for the first time in the last month and a half of my hippy styles has it grown....it's actually alright cash too....I have no complaints....I'm just all buttery that it's Friday and I got free bbq/beer at work..good times....

Yesterday though was another story....The last hour of work all I wanted to do was take a banana and whip it and watch it explode in to thousands of little pieces...I'm never angry but every stupid reject banana that I found I wanted to punish it, and put it where it belongs.....by the end of the day I'm a wonky ass zombie....(we all are though) we giggle about everything because it's just such drull work and we get a little crazy......Hopefully though Trav and I will get to switch jobs next week....maybe packing would be an alright change.....hmmm

as mentioned before though the tractor was sooooo awesome......I hope I get to go on Tractor duty again it's JOKES!!!! aweeeee watching the Banana humpers (that's what you call it when the boys chop off the sweet yellow fruits) is crazy.....They have the sharpest knife that chops them off and they just carry these 80 kilo bunches over to the tractor....It's quite intriguing to wat ch

hmmmmm what else can I talk about............not too sure really.........Our room is a shed but a big improvement from when we first got here...We moved to the caravan park and bailed on that idea after the first night...As I mentioned it rains ALLLL the time pretty much and our tents are all crumpled up in the trunk of the car right now...I fear for my life when I will open it up and finaly decide to clean it...The thing is it will never dry because it's never not raining here pretty much...(except now it's only sprinkling)...When I was taking down the tent our canadian friends were slip and sliding in the mud on body boards...OMG I wanted to play soooooo bad....but we were kinda rush rush getting the tents down and in a soggy mood ..ba humbug...haha....The next time it rains real hard like that though I'm running my ass over I can't wait....

Tully has really nice rain forest here though and HUGE mountains...tomorrow Will/Travis/and our two dude Canuck friends were going to climb it...there is a big river that goes down it too...should be good times can't wait....bla bla...anyways I only used up 14 of my minutes but spell checking takes a little so I will go....

P.S. I will post pictures when I get to a comp that has USB...Some of them are pretty funny....Us in action on the farm...aweeeee*mwah*

Awe how darling............My name is on the TV screen @ work...Don't I feel special?

Some of the wild life in our little Shanty town.....The turkey comes in sometimes when we're eating breaky and we feed it cheerios and musili....The frogs are friendly as well....

Heya

Oi...........I'm just on a work break right now because I have a split shift...
Yesterday upon typing my entry I got a call from Tim the Manager @ the Beaches bar and I'm currently working as a food server and bartender...

Up until yesterday I never served or bartended before so I suppose I'm not all that great at it...However I'm trying and hopefully by the end of the week I'll be a super star....I'm really glad to be working though...the deals not too bad as well.

I get 300$ cash and free accom, and food each week....I wish I could squeeze in another job because it will be hard to save cash but if I only have to make breaky for myself then that will cut a lot out of my expenses. Everyone I work with is pretty cool, it's a nice bar and gets pretty busy @ night....

hmmm what else? Nothing really just that I'm working and am happy about that. My travel brothers are probably going up north to do some fruit picking and we're going to meet up when they come back down. I'm actually quite excited to move into the hostel though, and get to know my co-workers better. All the staff get thier own area and I'll be rooming with a friend that I met from the Oz experience back in Byron times....

Anyways for the most part that's all I have to say....wish me luck in my temporary bartending career, I'm getting the hang of pouring beer as we speak...

Here is me playing it real cool at our campsite by our favourite car in the whole world. The second are the crazy ants I was talking about. Thier vicious and love the taste of human flesh.

Here are some pics of Airlie beach...Along with a drive from Rockhampton to Mackay......The last pic is the sign for our camp site

It was the darkest night ever since I've been to Oz the day that we

almost killed our Jud in the river. I attemped to take pictures but they are pretty crap. I tried though and that's what matters....Here are some just to give you a little essence of what it was like.

Happy Wednesday
First off I wrote a ton of stuff last night upon scoring free Internet, and there was a malfunction causing me to loose everything I wrote. Thus causing me some feelings of frustration. However I will not slack and write my little update of the interesting little week that I have had.

So where should I begin my story?

Well the four of us were in Bundaberg (the land of rum) for a total of 6 days. Upon arrival we were promiced work on the lemon farms which didn't work out so hot. The trees are currently being sprayed, leaving all the eager backpackers hungry for work. Worse things could happen I suppose though. It was a pretty cool hostel, and we're going back in about 2-3 weeks to pick the Lemons, and get our vitamin C intake. Bundy was good times though. Some interesting festivities, midnight shows, parking lot parties, and the finest boxed wine the bottle shop had to offer (uhmm ya). Anyways we all decided to live extremely low key and buy some tents and camp cheaply and cost effectively until we get work on the farms. We all bought tents for 40 fine Australian Dollars along with some op shop cutlery etc etc, and headed up north. Before our departure one of our Travel Turtle Friends decided to jet back home, thus leaving our group at the 'rounded' number of three. As much as we miss Trins interesting and funny antics, our group is still going cool. All of his sayings have been engraved into our minds which we use quite frequently. If your reading this Trin we're on our way to Melbourne to kidnap you eventually *mwah*.....are there any good duck ponds.

We drove for about 4(ish) hours up to a hick town called Rockhampton. It was actually a very picturesque place, and I really wanted to take heaps of pictures, but I felt like a really lame tourist doing so. We camped there for the night for 7 hard earned Oz Dollars, and left early in the morning to check out the darling Sunday markets and head up to a town called Mackay.

When we were driving up I was looking at the lonely planet book (our good travel friend) for some ideas of places to camp in the area. One place that the Author recommended seemed exceptionally cool. It was like a platypus retreat camp site, with a pond full of the little darlings and all those bells and whistles you don't get at 'normal camp sites' We got "directions" and ended up in the middle of NOWHERE. When I say nowhere I really sincerely mean it.

It was the type of nowhere that the only land marks you would see for many KMs were mango trees, sugar cane, and deep and utter darkness. It felt like we were watching ourselves in a cheesy horror movie, and we should be eating popcorn warning ourselves to stay away, because there is a man with hooks for hands working in the fields. So we called the camp ground again and he gave us extremely bad directions. He warned us that when we cross a bridge there will be a "little bit of water" and that if we keep to the right we will be alright. Eventually we found this "little bit of water", which ended up to be a full blown flood over a bridge. Trav and I got out and the water was seriously more then half way up to our knees. Upon investigation we looked over at Will and asked what he thought?

Will is always the really responsible one and is a definite gem to our trio. He said Lets do it, and we kinda all looked at each other did a quick prayer and said fuck it...lets go camping ahhh!!!!! If you've seen the movie road trip it was a lot like that except a river instead of a bridge with a big gap. So Will put on his seatbelt and Travis and I walked across with our fingers crossed. I honestly didn't even want to look, if our car dies I would be so sad, we're all in love with Jud. So the story goes that good old Jud made it through, and we all clapped and cheered and all that cal. The most ridiculous thing was that once we drove through that little creek further down there was another one that was twice as bad.....So we had to turn around and risk being stranded in the middle of nowhere again, to drive our asses back home, through the water again. We will go back there though, it is our mission.

So we drove up to Airle beach which is the main port to get to the Whitsunday islands. It's absolutely breathtaking here....Very tropical and hot, and our camp site is pretty pimp. It's about 7$ a night to camp, which feels like a gentle breeze through our fragile bank accounts. There are wild turkeys, crazy ants, heaps of lizards, and lots of parrots and cockatails. @ 8:00 you can go and feed the parrots by the pool, and we usually feed the turkeys cheerios @ the breakfast table. We are really the only young people in the park, and I'm pretty sure the only ones in tents. It's wicked though because we live right beside the kitchen, laundry, and bathroom. It's very different from being in hostels where everyone is like whooooooaaaa spring BREAK!@!!!!@@ all the time. It's kinda refreshing actually, and it's been cool just chilling and having really nice bbq dinners in the Eve.

More good news is that I just got a call from a Bar called Beaches and I have a trial this afternoon. I'm a little nervous because I've never worked in a bar, but I'm sure I'll be fine...meh meh....all is good....Really there is nothing that can happen that could make me any worse off.

Speaking of which I really should go and try to find my travel brothers because my clothes are in the car, and I need my shoes and shorts...*mwah*

loVe:

Here are some things in Bundaberg. Of course there is the rum that the city is so well known for. Other things include going to see the turtles hatch, along with really nice diving. There are a lot of farms in Bundy, and as mentioned before I will be going to pick lemons. When I got to my hostel this was what was on the shelf. I thought it was cute....Notice the lemon juice behind all the lemons too.....No Scurvy for us....yeee haw...
The worlds BEST Sand Castle

And then we smashed it......
Here is the Police Station....I think it's jazzy that it says Police Beat...

Brisbane has the most chilled out Cops EVER

I met some dude from Baltimore who read my tarot cards....hmmm...He also knew who John Waters was and we talked about Divine.
Trin the spider-dile hunter in Brisbane.

The Bridge over the Brisbane river. In the picture I was walking towards downtown. We were staying on the south side of the river called West Side.

I was walking by the chemist and couldn't help taking a picture of this. I think only Canadians find this funny
Our first cruise....in Brissy Bane. Remembering to drive on the left.

Our destination has been completed. This is us in the Mackers parking lot. Please take note of our cool rims. On the back on the trunk it says Jud Tour 07 and we wrote #1 on the top of the roof.

This is Sir Judwick Tatum...He costed a cool 900$. It felt like a soft breeze blowing through my bank account.
I am not dead...I swear

Hello....I've been on the road again and here is a little update about stuff that is new. Travis and I met up with a kiwi bloke and bought a sweet 82 Holden Gemini in Brisbane. The story behind it is actually quite funny as well.

He drove up from Melbourne to Brissy, and got caught DUI so he couldn't drive anymore. He had court before he saw us and the judge told him that if he catches him driving again he's going straight to jail. So an hour later he comes put-putting along to our hostel to let us go for a test drive. We even got this militant dutch guy (with a mohawk) who is a mechanic to inspect the car and verify that it was worth 1000$. Once the test drive was complete we proceeded to the Internet cafe to print out some forms. During Mid-Print kiwi dude does a u-turn right in front of some cops, which he got pulled over for right quick. When we got out of the cafe we were kinda unsure about what happened, but the cops asked if we were the ones buying the car to which we responded yes. Anyways the dude got nervous and gave his brothers info, and since he looked nervous they checked the car. They found his court papers, so they went to go check to see if the car was stolen. He was extremely lucky because the system was down, so they just gave him a slap on the wrist and said that we had to drive back. The cops in Brissy are hilarious, we couldn't believe it. The most lack I've ever seen in my life. Travis and I were walking down the street and we saw a bunch of cops with boxes of breathalysers in them. We were curious and started talking to them. In a nut shell this is what they said.

" Ya well, you know! We're not really looking to catch anyone. They just kinda tell us to come out here so we do. I mean by hey maybe if we save a life it's worth it."

Also when we asked the cops that pulled over kiwi dude about our licencing they responded by saying

"Well hmm?! I'm not too sure, we're not too up to date with all the licencing" Anyways the car is hysterical, it's full name is Sir Judwick Tatum, but we call it Jud for short. We brought the price down to 900$, and it's even equipped with a new cd player. We got yellow duct tape and wrote Jud tour 07 on it, along with #1 on the roof of the car.

Since last Saturday we drove up north to a small town called Bundaberg. I'm not too sure if there is Bundaberg rum in Canada, and if there is I never would have noticed. However if there is all the rum comes from this little town (pop 40,500). (Bundaberg rum has a very distinctive taste, and I suppose it's alright, eventually we'll make to the distillery tours I reckon.

Before our departure we bonded with two fellows by the names of Trin, and Will. Both fun, cool guys with lots of character. Trin is an Aussie from Melbourne with really crazy interesting tattoos, and everything he does is really quite interesting and amusing. Will is an English fellow from Kent. He's really cool as well, and is the responsible one of the group. Kinda like the ninja turtles. I would say that Travis would be Michealango, Trin would be Raphael, Will would be Leonardo. Since I'm a girl I'll say I'll be a mix between Donatello and April O'neil (and Splinter because I am kinda maturnal and such)

Along the way we stopped @ Rainbow beach and built the worlds greatest sand castle, and stayed in Harvey Bay for the night. The swimming was amazing. It was so nice to actually swim and not get knocked over by waves constantly and dodge surfers.

We arrived in Bundaberg yesterday around 2:30ish in the afternoon. Bundaberg is a real interesting town and so far I have enjoyed my stay. We booked a week at a working hostel called Cell Block. It's actually an old Police Station that they converted into a hostel. It's pretty cool though, everyone that lives there is either Canadian, German, or English. The Germans in the hostel are so hard not to laugh at because they are soooo German. Some carry little fanny packs around thier waist, and have that typical German smile. It's quite darling though, thier nice people, maybe the one guy will share his rod with us. The Cell Block hostel the most quiet hostel I've been at too. This is because everyone works through the hostel, and is in money saving mode. This was the reasoning for our destination of course to begin with.

To pick lemons and make some cash

The cash pretty alright once you get good as well. 120$ per bin and you can work in groups so the real good pickers can make 200+ a day. I've been doing my push-ups every day and trying to build my arms and such. Everyone says fruit picking is the hardest...But I also think it will build character and then at least I can say I picked lemons in Bundaberg. Anyways I will update you as this falls into place.

There is a nice river outside our hostel where some of the back packers go fishing. Tonight we aspire to go fishing, along with having a kick-ass bbq. I met some of the people in the hostel and their all pretty cool. Anyways I'll leave it @ that and just post a lot of pictures to update you...*mwah*

Love
Chrissy
