Hello from Bean County Bowen

Today is May the 11th 2007, it is a sunny Friday and the bean/rock melon business has still not picked up unfortunately.....
However........

The good news is that the other day I went to this bead/media shop to make my friend an anklet for a Birthday present. I ended up hanging out for a good long while, talking to this really cool lady about everything and nothing......She took a shining to me, and felt bad that I have been waiting for work for a while, and may have to give up food soon...(haha joking, kinda)

So today I get to work in this awesome shop. It's like two stores that are attached, one side is all jewelry and beads, the other is the media section. Going to work today is actually like someone sending me to a playground and telling me to do cartwheels...I'm stoked...I am actually so happy to be here...I get free Internet, am going to make wicked hippie hemp stuff, and possibly a neckless, if I feel so fit to do so....So life has picked up today.

Lately I've mainly been kicking it back making silly little errands for myself so I have excuses to walk long distances...I've done a lot more reading then usual which is good, along with trips to the Library. Bowen has really been like a huge detox, which is actually pretty sweet..............The weather seems to have picked up again today as well, it was a little rainy on Wed/Thurs....

To be honest I don't really have much more to write about......I will just sit here and bide my time until the rock melons start (wish me luck)

Love:
Chrissy

These are all real self explanitory....Possums, cute wallabees with babies in thier pouches, and me pumping gas in our pimp ride....
Peace
I'm out....

More Maggie Island pics....
There are heaps of real rad wheels you can hire out on this magical Island...The first is the car I really wanted to rent out, but we ended up getting the second one....It was pretty cool driving around though.....We drove to this place by one of the bays and you could feed the Wallabees it was one of the best parts of the trip....There were so many of them....Everywhere you looked they would poke their heads out....Anyways that picture is me sitting with one on the bench...Along with a Koala in it's eucalyptus tree being real lazy. Koalas sleep 90% of the time, and just eat lots of leaves...Professional Stoners

So Good Afternoon/Morning/Evening bla bla

Since I last wrote, I moved to a town called Bowen which is about three hours south of Townsville. It's right by the Whitsunday Islands and it's pretty nice here....Bigger then Tully/Innisfail as well.....

Gonna be working on a farm...Ideally for a month (if I can make it)...I figure since I did a month in Bananas by the time I leave here it will only be one more month to go to extend my visa if I want to come back/stay etc. So today we did tomato pruning....It was just a two day job, and it wasn't so bad....just kinda tedious...but it was cool because it was all the girls in the hostel and so we just jokes and laughed about stupid stuff.
We kinda all got the axe today....It's a little mystery as to why....but this is what I reckon.................

During the beginning of our shift there was work for tomorrow, and the farmer wanted us to stay a little longer...Anyways after Smoko (Aussie for break)...All of us worked our little hearts out, pruning tomato plants. (A whole heap of these girls were taking a 'water break', for a bit.....)...I got to the end of the stake and the team and I decided we should get some water and such...(it was a very hot day)...So the three of us started walking down the row, and then a whole heap of other girls followed us as well...Eventually half of us were drinking water looking real lazy...which was the one time that the farmer drove by on his 4 by 4 wheeler and I guess presumed we were slacking off...At the end of the day he said there was no work tomorrow...ahh...oh well.........

Anyways Bowen is pretty sweet as. There are heaps of beaches in the area, and really nice lookout points....The townies are all pretty friendly too. The big deal in town is that a movie is being filmed across the street from my hostel. I think it's called Australia or something and it stars Nicole Kidman, and Hugh Jackman.....It's supposed to take place in the war time, so they imported all these cattle today and now there are cows everywhere.....It's a pretty immaculate set as well...They built this whole cattle ranch, with this hotel cavern thing....Anyways that's the story of that.........

SooOoo I don't really have any new news for the most part...I've made heaps of chick friends all of whom are really cool. I have loved travelling with my friends, however I'm real happy to be on my own now....I like just waking up and doing whatever I want, and I meet heaps more people when I'm on my own as well.....Good times....

Anyways I have an abundance of pictures to post the above are all from Magnetic Island...@ the Koala retreat we got to hold all sorts of cool animals/reptiles....Crocs/snakes/lizards/Koalas...etc....good times...Anyways I'll post a bunch more and then I'll be off
*mwah* bye
