wOw
Wow!!! That is all I have to say about New Years 2008
Where shall I begin?
hm well....
I think I'll quickly start from where I left off leaving Wellywood. Life was smooth coming back over to the promised land of Motueka. We had a crazy small plane ride over between the islands which was more like riding a seagull then a plane. Real bumpy, and maybe about 12 people in total in the plane. Jenny, John, and I booked night in Picton at a place called the jugglers rest. It was a real cool place, the couple who run it are real granola/museli, and have heaps of fire toys to play with.

From there bla bla bla...Same stuff really...came back to Motueka by Takaka which is where I spent my NY.

Motueka is a very interesting town..Perhaps just a little less interesting then Takaka, but nonetheless a very relaxed and organic flax-seed type town. It's a great place actually, and I'm definitely going to stay here and work for a while. You don't have to wear shoes, and individual eccentricities are smiled upon, and rewarded. The scenery is real breathtaking, and if there is a group of more easy going people then my brain would probably be blown to a million little pieces. I even found my promised land job that I will surely get. I'm going to get a job @ a group home working with special needs individuals (ideally). I really miss it, and it would be a good job to have. On the side I'll also do some farm work or something, to save some extra cash. I'm really looking forward to just having a drawer for my scissors and things like this. It's been a while living out of a backpack for me,and it would be real refreshing making some proper friends.
Back to the point now
It's reached festival season in New Zealand. There are actually so many festivals right now you could probably live at one if your heart was pleased to do so.
I got my NY ticket when I was in Dunedin...I saw the flier and figured it looked cool, so I planned on going for a since December 1st.

I hitched a ride from a group of English Lads and Lasses @ my hostel. It worked out quite well because I pitched my hired tent by theirs. We rode up a mountain to a place called Canaan Downs. Like many places in NY there are heaps of Lord of the rings scenes that were filmed there (I don't know why I even mention it anymore)!!! (That will be the last time okay???) Please forgive me
We went up a mountain for about 20 minutes, then a right handed turn on a real narrow road about 5000 feet up (I think) at the top of a crazy beautiful mountain. I always thought that Canadia had festivals that would be similar to this so it wouldnt be much of a shock....But WOW is all I have to say!!!
We got there on the 29th and the festival went till the 2nd. I came back today which is the 1st. So this festival is a no alcohol zone, and there are a lot of interesting people around. By the music stages there was the village, which had a few vendors, along with some places to chill. There were a bunch of stages, and a tribal area where people hold hands, dance and play bongos most of the day.
Hmm??
I can definitely say that I have never been at a place/festival with so many incredibly talented individuals in my life. People came from all over the world, to show off their stuff, and party and dance like the Apocalypse was coming.

I think NY eve was the most insane by far. Creeping up to 12:00 the whole place literally lit on fire. All of a sudden by the dance area about 20 people (at least) had a massive burn with thier pois, staffs, hoops and etc. It was the most insane thing I've eve seen. The whole place was flashing with colour. Almost everyone was either juggling with 5 LED glow balls while riding a unicycle, and breathing fire. It was as if everyone had escaped the cirque du solei and was running around the grass. It was amazing to see so much talent in the crowd. Usually the focal point is the band, dj,etc, but here the crowd is much more colourful to watch.
Wow!
is all I can say...I don't think my words are descriptive enough to explain
Anyways I came back a day early. I haven't worn shoes, or had a shower until about one hour ago. After rolling on the grass, hula hooping, learning how to weave hand bags, tribal dancing, and watching a world on fire I kinda felt as though I needed a break. I think all the water that ran off me in the shower looked like someone just chucked a block of tar on the wet floor. When my fingers take a break from the keys, I often find myself running my fingers through my hair that is no longer dreaded by dirt.
When I went to the toilet at the petrol station I felt as if I was a princess that was just crowned queen. At 6:30 in the morning when the porto potty crew was doing thier clean-up, I put my hands together and thanked the world it wasn't my job.
I definetely enjoy being dirty, but there comes a time when you need to sit in the dark and listen to your ipod and not be around so many burning people and blaring music. I'm camping tonight as well, due to the fact that Motueka has no spare beds in any of the hostels. However with that magic shower under my belt, I will sleep like the most peaceful coma baby in the galaxy.
Okay I'll leave it at that and post some pictures above maybe then things will make more sense
Bye now
